Appointments can be made every 30 days. Schedule your appointment up to two days in advance through our online scheduler.
If you see that there are no appointments available, please check back the following day.

SACA Food Shelf is a client choice food shelf, where neighbors choose the items they need. Appointments are first come, first serve, and can be made once every 30 days.
Please bring your own bags and boxes to pack your groceries.

Located in Columbia Heights, SACA Food Shelf has served the community for almost 50 years. We know that everyone needs help sometimes and aim to connect each person or family with the food and resources they need to find stability.
Food Shelf - Client Choice Food Program
Our food shelf is set up like a grocery store, offering the comfort and independence of grocery store experience. Neighbors who visit the food shelf can select the food they want and need, instead of being given a standardized box of goods.
SACA Delivers
SACA Delivers is a volunteer-driven program that delivers food shelf groceries to homebound people who are unable to visit SACA in person. This service is designated for people ages 55+ and those with documented disabilities. There are currently no spaces available, but if you would like to check if you are eligible and be added to the waitlist, please email us at info@sacafoodshelf.org.
Holiday Turkey & Toy Giveaway
Our Holiday Food and Toy Giveaway provides turkeys and holiday gifts to help neighbors navigate through what can be a tough time of year. To be eligible to receive a turkey, neighbors must access the food shelf at least three times between July and November. Registration for the toy giveaway opens in October.
Farm Fresh Produce Drops
During the harvest season, SACA partners with Second Harvest Heartland and local farmers to distribute fresh fruit and vegetables to individuals and families within the community. This is a free, drive-through program that is open to the public.
Feeding Farm Animals Program
Our goal is to have zero food waste while feeding our neighbors. To make sure this happens, we've partnered with Feeding Furry Friends, a local nonprofit, to distribute food that is no longer fit for human consumption, to wildlife and farm animal sanctuaries. This avoids composting food and saves valuable time.
Homeless Food Assistance
Our homeless food program offers individuals a condensed wholesome supply of food and hygiene products that can be easily carried.

How do I make an appointment?
The easiest way to make an appointment is to schedule online HERE. Online appointments can be scheduled two days in advance. You can also call the food shelf at (763) 789-2444 during our regular open hours. Appointments scheduled over the phone can be made one day in advance.
Am I eligible to access services at SACA Food Shelf?
SACA’s serves the communities of Columbia Heights, Fridley, Hilltop, Spring Lake Park, and NE Minneapolis. If you live outside of these communities and need food, please make an appointment online. We will always feed you!
What should I bring with me each appointment?
At your first appointment, we recommend (but don’t require) that you bring a picture ID. This helps get you set up in our client appointment system faster. Please bring your own bags to pack food items.
How often may I visit the Food Shelf?
Neighbors are welcome to visit the food shelf once every 30 days. Appointments do not follow calendar months.
How do I become eligible to receive a holiday turkey?
In order to receive a holiday turkey between Thanksgiving and Christmas, you must visit the food shelf at least three times between July and November. Your November or December appointment can count toward your three visits.
