“I have had a wonderful time volunteering at SACA. I’m truly glad to partake in the great things they do for people in need”

Volunteers make the difference!
SACA relies on weekly volunteers to support neighbors who depend on our services. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to provide the services we do, and our dedicated volunteers keep our operations running!
Interested in becoming a Weekly Volunteer at SACA?
We are in the process of hiring a new Volunteer Manager! In the meantime, we are not accepting new volunteers or volunteer groups. We will update this page when our new Volunteer Manager onboards.
Thank you for your understanding!
A Note about Volunteering at SACA:
Due to limited staffing and the unpredictable nature of donations, SACA staff are unable to work alongside daytime volunteers for an entire shift. Staff can provide initial guidance and emergency support, but volunteers need to be able to fulfill volunteer responsibilities independently.
Volunteer shifts involve standing, bending, lifting, maneuvering carts, and communicating in English. If you anticipate any challenges with fulfilling a daytime volunteer role, please sign up for our volunteer newsletter to stay informed of other special event volunteer opportunities.
Weekday Volunteer Roles
Our weekday volunteers work 2-4 hour shifts every week or every other week, depending on their schedules. SACA's goal is to create a fun and rewarding volunteer experience that builds community and supports our neighbors!
Community Market Greeters & Shoppers
Greet neighbors and show them how to use the community market. Duties include assisting neighbors, merchandizing shelves, coolers, and bins, helping with check out, and keeping the area clean. Afternoon volunteers needed.
Sorters & Stockers
This is an active volunteer opportunity! Help sort and organize food, restock the community market, sort through food rescue, and keep the area clean. You must be able to lift 20 to 40 lbs. Volunteers need throughout the day.
Greeters & Admin Assistants
Welcome neighbors to the food market, receive donations, and answer phones. Help schedule curbside appointments. Some data entry and administrative work may be required. Volunteers needed throughout the day.
Thrift Store Assistants
Sort, merchandise, and organize thrift store donations. Help answer questions, answer the phone, and check out customers. Our thrift store is open to the public and every purchase supports SACA’s operations.
Food Rescue Drivers
Pick up food rescue from our store partners in SACA’s truck and electric van (Cub, Target, Trader Joes and Aldi’s) and bring it back to SACA. You will navigate the coolers and warehouses at our partner stores, load the SACA vehicle, and bring it back to SACA to unload. You must be able to lift 40 pounds. Early morning shifts available.
